Procrastination...

Well, instead of doing homework, I'm going to post on here. I have a paper due tomorrow, and I haven't even started it. It's only about 2 pages though, so I'm not worried about it. Once I decide o sit down and actually write it, I should be able to crank it out in about an hour or so.

Right now I'm sitting in my room, listening to my iTunes, and thinking about a lot of different things. Most of what I'm thinking comes from Nathan though. I can't help but get anxious when I think about the fact that we still have 6 months until he comes home. It seems like it's dragging, and I have a hard time trying not to let it get me down. I get to talk to him often though, so that helps a lot. We talk about everything, and I love that I'm able to be so open with him.

Also, I was reading my cousin's blog recently, and I read something that she had posted that I had pointed out to her...so now I'm gonna post it too. It seems like, in my family, that if you're not married and don't have kids, you're not seen as an adult. She took it one step further and said that you're not seen. I would totally have to agree with that, because I feel like when I'm here at college, I'm an after thought. No one ever calls just to check in, they always nag me or need something done. They always want me to come home, but then when I do, they largely ignore me the whole time I'm there, and they never come down to visit me. But anyways, I digress.

For Thanksgiving Break, I'm gonna stay here in Macomb. I have to work and I'm not really keen on going home anyway. All I'd hear if I were there is how "concerned" my mom is about me being in a relationship with Nathan, and I honestly don't need it.

And Mom and Dad aren't gonna have me around for Spring Break either, because I'm looking into going to Texas to visit my aunt and uncle. I need an Aunt Becky hug, and I know that I'll be able to discuss things with her more openly than I would be with Mom. Aunt Becky is much less likely to judge me and my relationships, and she's more likely to actually listen when I tell her things.

Well, that's all my rambling for now. I'm gonna go and maybe get some homework done before I get on Skype to talk to Nathan.

Waiting for Class to Start...

Well, while I'm waiting for my class to start at 1, I thought I'd check in to elaborate on my weekend. While parts of it were fun, most of my weekend was a boring one. I worked from 9:45 am-noon on Saturday, and then I went home and spent the next six hours or so doing homework. After that, I went over to my friend Kiah's house and we had a little mini-Halloween party there. There weren't a lot of people, but it was still fun, and we took some great pictures.

Sunday was spent doing homework in the morning, and then I had to work from 4-7 pm. After work, I finished my paper that was due today, which took me FOREVER!!! Tonight, I have another evening full of homework planned before I work tonight at 9-12. It's gonna be a long night, but hopefully I'll get to talk to Nathan for more than 10 minutes, which is all we've been able to talk the last few days. I really miss him, and I'm counting the days till he gets home.

In other news, I've pretty much decided not to go home for Thanksgiving break. Instead, I'll be spending it with my room mate and her family. Also, I'm starting to make plans for Spring Break -- I'm planning on going down to Texas to visit family there instead of going home. It would be nice to actually DO something for Spring Break and not just sit at home alone in my house, and the apartment would be empty anyway because Carley is flying to Ireland for Spring Break to visit her boyfriend, who is overseas with Nathan. She's super excited to see Travis, and I'm really excited for her. Well, that's all I've got for now, and it's getting close to time to go to class, so, toodles for now!

SERIOUSLY!!!

OMG! I can't believe it's been over a year since I've posted anything! That's insane!! Well, there's a lot to catch up on, so lets get to it! :D

First, I've moved into my first apartment with my wonderful roommate Carley. We love it, and it's great to be able to have our own kitchen and our own bathrooms. It's pretty small, but it's not like there's such a thing as a HUGE apartment!

I'm halfway through my 2nd to last semester here at Western, and I've caught a severe case of senior-itis! I simply can't find the motivation to do anything, but I'm really trying to buckle down and stick through it. I only have one more semester after this one, and I can't wait to be done here and move onto the next part of my life!

So, in other very exciting news, I have a boyfriend, and I'm happier than I've been in a really long time. His name is Nathan and he's 25 years old. He's in the National Guard, and he's deployed to Egypt right now, and my roommate introduced us, because Nathan is in Travis's (Carley's boyfriend) unit. He gets back in May, and I can't explain how anxious I am to get him home. He's absolutely amazing, and I can't wait to see him again. Skype has become my best friend since he left, and as frustrated as I get with it when it doesn't work, it's the only thing keeping me sane.

Other than that, there's not a whole lot that's new with me, so I'll stop rambling and go. :)

Concerts, Finals Schedule, and Upcoming Change in Address...

OK! Wow, so I'm surviving this semester, but not by much! LOL! It's been extremely crazy since Spring Break, and I've been studying really hard. But don't worry, there's been a lot of fun mixed in there! So, starting after spring break...let's see!

The first thing I think I need to mention is that immediately when we got back, UUB Concerts started to intensely prep for the David Cook Concert. (If you don't know who that is, he won American Idol last year!) Anyways, we had to get everything set up for him. We only had a week, so it had to be done fast! But, we got all of the contracts and writers in order, and it all went relatively smoothly! Then the day of the concert arrives, and we had a little surprise. David wasn't supposed to get here until Noon, and he arrived at 9:30. That was FUN! Anyways, so the rest of the day was spent running around, making sure that WestTech (the sound guys) were getting set up properly, and making sure David had everything he needed. We also had to make sure that the room and David's bus were secure, so we all took turns standing around playing security guards. Like people are gonna listen to two scrawny girls, but anyways! I had 2 tests that day, and they both went relatively well. Unfortunately, that means that I had to leave for a little while, but it was cool, because it gave me a break!

Then the concert rolls around at 8:00 pm. And let me tell you, it was AMAZING! We all really enjoyed it, and we were super super close! Ryan Star was touring with David and he opened at 8. We all got to meet him, and he was a super nice guy. Then 9:00 comes, and David Cook comes out on stage! The concert was so amazing, and we all had a blast! David's really good live, and he's a super nice guy. We met him and his band after the show, and they were all awesome guys.

This is how close we were! It was amazing! I couldn't believe it! And David was so amazing live. And Ryan Star, the guy that opened, was amazing too! I've already downloaded some of his music. :D David played a lot of his best songs, as well as a couple of covers, which was cool, I thought. It was interesting to see him cover songs by a couple of his favorite bands!

^^ So this picture is David Cook.
And the picture to the right is Ryan Star. ---->

So yeah, after the concert, I was completely exhausted, but it was so worth it. My feet hurt for two whole days afterwards, and my calves hurt from walking up and down stairs all day, but it was fun!

Now that we're about a week past the concert, not a whole lot is going on. However, I did end up going home with Amanda this past weekend on a last minute road trip. She called on Saturday, and said, "You wanna go on a road trip to Ottawa with me?" and I said "Sure!" And we were in Ottawa a few hours later! It was so much fun, and it was nice to hang out with Amanda, because we don't get to do a lot by ourselves. It was a blast, we listened to some crazy music, had some funny conversation, and learned a new dance, the "Cupid Shuffle!" It was a lot of fun, and it was nice to be home for a couple of days.

Other than that, not a lot is going on. I have a couple of presentations due the next two weeks, one's a group project. I also have a few papers that are due in the next week or so. I have one due Thursday, one due Tuesday, and one due the week of finals (my individual presentation is over this paper, which is a 20 page research paper). My finals week is going to be pretty low key. I have two on Tuesday, May 12. That day is EIS 301 final at 3 pm, and my HIST 430 final at 6 pm, neither of which are comprehensive. I also have my 20 page research paper due that day, but we have no final exam in that class. Our paper is our final, and it's due by 1 pm on May 12. Then my only other final is my GEOG 100 exam on Thursday, May 14, at 8 am...which sucks! But hey, I can deal, because it's my last one, and then I'm OUTTA HERE! Yay!! Can't wait to be done with this semester, and have a couple of months off before next year.

I've gotten confirmation on my room assignment for next year, and I'll be in Washington Hall, room 620. I'm really excited, because Amanda, Kiah, Heather, and Sarah Newendyke (she's a member of UUB with us) will all be in the same area. Heather will be the only one that's possibly going to be in a different building, because she's an RA next year, and she won't know her assignment until August. But we know she'll be in Linc/Wash/Grote, which is where we all are, in Washington. So my address will be (for next year):

Sara Robbins
Washington Hall
710 W. Adams St. #620
Macomb, IL 61455

Well, that's all there really is to report, so I'll try to post again before finals! :D

Spring Break has Arrived!

Wow! I can't believe how fast this semester is flying by! I'm at home this week for Spring Break, and it is SO nice to not have to worry about class and homework for a little bit. I haven't been doing much except homework and going to class. My economics class wasn't going so well, and I had to drop it, because it was going to mess up my GPA, which right now is a 3.25. I got together with Sam on Sunday after I went to church with Amber. We didn't do much, but we did go see a movie, which is what we usually do! Then we hung out at Sam's house and ate dinner there. We had a good time, like always!

Western Idol went well at school. We had a really good crowd turn out for it, and we filled the room it was in, which is more than I think any of us expected!

Other than that, not a whole lot has been happening with me. Me and Sarah (the girl that lives in the dorm next to me) have been hanging out a lot lately, which is cool! She's a lot of fun, and I'm glad she moved in this semester, 'cuz she really livened up our floor! Well, that's all I've got for now! :D Everybody have a good week!

Western Idol and not much else...

Not too much has really happened since I last posted anything. Mom came up last weekend, and we had a lot of fun. We didn't do much, but we had a great time relaxing, and just chilling out.

Classes have been crazy, but they're all going well. I took an Economics test this week, and it was WAY harder than I thought it was going to be. Hopefully, I did okay! Um...let's see, what else...The late night magic show and chocolate buffet was a lot of fun...it ended up only being me and Kiah that went, but we still had a good time. The next week, we went to a Post Secret event, which is a guy that anonymously collects secrets from strangers...He's really cool. And some of the secrets that he shared from other people were out of this world! I couldn't believe it...

We also got to register for rooms for this coming fall. We were all very excited about that. I did get into the building I wanted. I'm going to be in Washington 620 next year. It should be a lot of fun, because most of my friends are going to be in the same building, so we'll be pulling some crazy crap next year! Should be a blast...

Spring break is sneaking up on us very quickly here at Western. I'm off between March 13 through March 16. My first day of class back is the 17th. I'm looking forward to going home for a little while. I haven't seen Dad since January, and it's about to drive me crazy. Fortunately, I've been very busy with school and other activities, so I haven't had time to really think about it.

This coming Tuesday, UUB Concerts Committee has our "Western Idol" event. We had auditions last week, and they went really good. Everybody is really talented, and it should be a lot of fun at the finals! We all have our favorites that we want to see win, but everyone is so talented, that we all feel sorry for the judges!

These pictures are some of the line that we had...We had such a good time that night!

Here's a picture of all the finalists. Everyone who won was super excited, and really nice. We were all really happy for all of them!

And a picture of all the UUB girls, except Jamie, Kiah, and Me..because unlike these slackers, we had actual jobs! lol!

This was such a great time! Here is a picture of Amanda and one of our finalists, Jesse. We were all so happy when he got into the finals, because he was so nervous going into sing for the judges for auditions! He was so excited, he ran around giving all the girls in UUB hugs and he was jumping all over his friends!

Well, that's really all the news I have for now. I'll try to post some pictures from the Western Idol final! Love you all tons and bunches!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Not much has really happened this week. Monday I met Kiah and Diane (a friend who lives over in Corbin) for coffee, and then we went to the library for the book and media sale they had this week. I did find a book, but I'm probably the only one that will think it's cool. It's a book that contains important American Documents from 1898 to recently (I'm a history major, I'm allowed to buy books like that and it not be lame!) Tuesday was class as usual, but then Wednesday came around!

Wednesday was my 20th birthday, and I had so much fun. I met my friends for lunch, and didn't do much else of anything! It was such a great day, and my facebook page was hillarious (though I don't really know why) because every single post by anyone said something about "Happy Birthday Sara!" Again, I don't really know why this was so funny to me, but it was!

Today, however, was much less fun...When I woke up this morning, I felt really sick. I must have even slept through my alarm, which was set to go off at 7:30, because I didn't wake up until 12:30! When I got up to get dressed to go to my third class (I was already too late for my first two!) I felt really dizzy and nauseous, and I knew there was now way that I was going to be able to go to class today! I was really mad at myself, because I hate missing class! But now, after many hours of sleep, I am feeling a little bit better.

I got my birthday present from my parents today. It was really cool! Lots of Chocolate!!! Nothing better than chocolate when you don't feel good! Anyways, it had a small bag of fun size snickers, two Otis Spunkmeyer muffins, two hershey bars, a 4 pack of Starbucks Mocha Frappacinos, and a Western Illnois T-Shirt. It was really cool...Oh! And a Hoops and Yoyo Card (the best cards in the WHOLE WORLD!!!)

That's really all the news for now. More to come for sure, because me and my girlies are going to a late night magic show and chocolate buffet tomorrow night, and are having a sing star party right before we go, so it'll be SO MUCH FUN! I'll get pictures and post some soon! Love you all tons!
